Job Title: Director of Youth Ministry (Part-time: 15-25 hours per week)

Memorial United seeks to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. We believe that we are called to make disciples of all people, especially the youth of our congregation and community. The primary role of the Director of Youth Ministry is, with God’s help, to intentionally participate in forming middle school and high school students into faithful disciples who love God through acts of worship and devotion, and love neighbor through acts of justice and compassion.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead a weekly gathering for youth age for the purpose of nurturing those in grades 6-12 to grow in love of God and others in a fun and inviting environment.

  • Oversee or create curriculum and materials targeted for those who are youth aged.

  • Organize and lead occasional activities/events that offer opportunities for the youth to be formed into more faithful disciples of Christ. Examples might include local and distant mission trips, retreats, camping, fundraising, events pertaining to justice issues, Christian music concerts, etc.

  • Encourage and cultivate a culture of intergenerational support and mentorship among the congregation.

  • Work in consultation with the Director of Children’s Ministry to ensure there are opportunities for youth on Sunday Morning.
